River Room Learning Centre
The Learning Centre is situated upstairs at the rear of the Community Arts Centre building with access through the large gate from Moutoa Quay. An easy to use stairlift is available to take you aloft! Parking is close by.
Since the devastating 2015 June flood, we have been able to set up a new centre with brand new furniture and computers. Our rooms are spacious, more flexible than before and well suited to members' needs.
The large comfortable carpeted room with adjoining kitchen facilities overlooks the Whanganui River. A separate administrative area is set aside for archive storage, copier, manual preparation and general office work. The main room has seven all-in-one Windows 10 computers with MS Word 2013 as well as access to some older models when the need arises.
Groups use the central tables for courses in Android tablets aind iPhones / iPads. Students are encouraged to bring their own laptops and these are catered for with a central hub. Several printers, one a laser, the others colour, cover class work. A 3D printer is also available and a screen and data projector is used for courses.
Adjustable furniture caters for accessibility issues and we can change computer settings for left handers and those with visions issues.
SeniorNet members are always welcome to view changing exhibitions in the two galleries downstairs.
